Placements are provided in medical clinics, dispensaries, and hospitals located in and around the city of Arusha. This program is particularly suited for those volunteers looking for international hands-on experience and overseas medical work exposure.
Medical professionals are also welcomed to be a part of this project and contribute as much as they can. Work will vary depending on the experiences of individual volunteers.
Villages Health Support Organization also arranges Medical Elective placements in Tanzania. Volunteers work in the in hospital placements, Local villages Visits in Arusha. The placements are suitable for medical students of all level looking to do a Medical Elective Program in Africa and gain some valuable knowledge and experience by working under the supervision of medical local dental assistants.

Volunteers gain medical experience by shadowing local professionals at either a clinic or hospital and may also be able to take part in medical outreach campaigns in local villages.

Qualified professionals or volunteers who are in their third or subsequent year of medical or nursing school. Paramedics, EMTs and CNAs are also welcome, however it’s important to note that you’ll be volunteering in a general practice clinic or hospital, rather than working within your field.
